Job Description:

To proactively and positively promote LLA as a responsible airport offering accessible, easy and enjoyable travel through the media and wider communications activity.

Job Responsibilities:

  • To identify potential issues and draft Q&A/lines to take where appropriate and brief airport spokespeople as and when required
  • To maintain the airport’s busy press office function responding to press enquiries preparing all materials in a timely and professional manner to minimise negative reputational impact, and sharing in the on-call rota as part of the airport’s 24/7 first response crisis communications team
  • To manage the media area on our website, including lines to take etc and updating our channels with alerts to proactively head off potential news issues
  • To plan and identify key media opportunities and contribute regular ideas for all LLA communication channels, planning and delivering relevant media-related events/press calls
  • To develop and maintain key media contacts and develop strong relationships with journalists as well as an understanding of their needs and the changing media landscape
  • To create and oversee relevant and timely proactive communications material including press releases, blogs, articles, and web copy, along with videos, imagery and infographics.
  • Working with both internal team members and external agencies ensuring all communications are in line with brand values and tone of voice

Job Requirements:

  • An ability to translate a diverse and often complex range of subject matter
  • A good understanding of the importance of Social media and being able to work with these channels
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A highly organised approach to managing themselves and their work
  • Highly creative with a proven track record in a busy press office, PR agency and/or with a background in journalism
  • Experience engaging diverse groups of stakeholders and individuals
  • A proven understanding and knowledge of the current media landscape
  • The ability to work effectively on their own and as part of a team

Qualification & Experience:

  • Previous experience/good knowledge of video and image-editing software such as Photoshop, InDesign FCP X and/or Premiere Pro would be preferable
